Automatic transmission and ATF

ATF transmits torque, cools, lubricates and controls shift pressure. We explain the complete system, measure first and always work to the transmission manufacturer's specification.

From torque converter to valve body: the system in motion

VEHICLE → AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION → ATF

The automatic transmission

ATF transmits torque, cools, lubricates and controls shift pressure.

It is hydraulic fluid and high-load lubricant at the same time.

Its condition decides shift comfort and transmission life.

CONVERTER → PLANETARY SETS → CLUTCHES → VALVE BODY

Inside the transmission: parts in motion

The oil flows through millimetre channels into precision solenoid valves.

Clutch packs work with regulated pressure and controlled friction.

Any loss of oil quality shows up in the shift behaviour first.

COLOUR · VISCOSITY · ADDITIVES

Fresh ATF versus stressed ATF

Fresh ATF is clear, with full viscosity and a complete additive package.

In service the additives age and contamination and particles appear.

Dark oil with a burnt smell is a clear technical warning.

TEMPERATURE → OXIDATION → ABRASION

Thermal load and abrasion

Towing, city traffic, mountain roads and high power raise ATF temperature.

Heat accelerates oxidation; abrasion circulates through the hydraulic circuit.

Particles affect solenoid valves and shift behaviour.

CLAIM → TECHNICAL REALITY

“Lifetime fill” stated precisely

“Lifetime fill” does not mean the oil is free of ageing and wear.

ATF is exposed to thermal and mechanical load; additive packages age.

Contamination and wear particles can be present in the oil.

DIAGNOSIS → EXCHANGE → EXACT LEVEL

Professional oil change

We use only the ATF approved by the respective transmission manufacturer.

An intensive exchange can require a larger quantity to replace more of the old oil.

More quantity never means overfilling: the final level is set exactly to spec.

DIAGNOSIS → REPAIR → 1:1 CLONE

TCU repair and cloning

We repair transmission and engine control units at component level.

Cloning copies data and adaptations onto an equivalent unit.

Full reprogramming is avoided and the vehicle keeps its identity.

STABLE PRESSURE → PRECISE SHIFTS

Clean shift behaviour

Healthy oil means stable pressure and defined shifts.

Less jolting, less slip, less thermal load.

Planned maintenance instead of an expensive repair.

Technical framework

Quantity and level always to specification

Fill quantity and final level always according to the transmission manufacturer's specification. No questionable additives.

No questionable additives. Every step is documented and matched to the individual vehicle.
